Mozambique technology industry tends to improve as Pan-African operator Raxio Data Centres has officially opened a facility in its capital Maputo.

Established in 2018, Raxio Group is part of the US-based Roha Group investment firm. The company has live facilities in Uganda and Ethiopia, and sites in development in Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Tanzania, and Angola.

The company this week announced the opening of Raxio Mozambique (Raxio MZ1). It offers 3MW across 2,000 sqm, with capacity for up to 400 racks.
“With this launch, Mozambique is finally set to benefit from having its own world-class data center facility and Raxio’s dedicated operational experience to support the country’s continued development in this digital age,” added Emidio Amadebai, Raxio’s general manager in Mozambique. “Mozambique’s location positions Raxio MZ1 ideally to accommodate the needs of both local customers and those in the wider Southern African region.”

Located in Beluluane Industrial Park (MozParks) on the outskirts of the capital, the facility is the country’s first Tier III Uptime-certified data center. Raxio broke ground on the project in September 2022.
